About the event
Self-Regulation is a skill and capacity children develop through co-regulation with the positive adults around them. Children mirror adult behaviors, language, emotional state, and postural reactions of both stress and relaxation. Every interaction is an opportunity for brain building. Through stories and simple exercises children and adults develop nervous system flexibility aiding in smoother transitions through the rhythms of the day.
Children’s brains develop the fastest in the first 6 years of life. Self-Regulation skills support the developing brain and nervous system. Self-regulation skills prepare children for learning and social engagement, while also mitigating the impacts of trauma, stress, and digital devices.
Self-regulation skills are cultivated to support children and adults in three essential domains:
Self-Regulation Foundations – Alert and Ready to Learn
Stress Relief – Learning to Find Calm and Relax
Keep Moving – Active and Restorative Movements
